Christ on Hell - Gehenna Part 1

Part 1 - Christ on Hell

So you think Christ spoke on hell right?

You forget that Christ spoke Aramaic.  The word is Gehenna.

Before I list every single verse with hell from Christ, please, please don't take my word for it.  Study for yourself.

As an example for to the interlinear bible on biblehub.com and research it.

Here is an example:

Matthew 5:22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the [Sanhedrin] Council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of the Valley of Hinnom [Gehenna] fire.

As I mention before, just do a interlinear bible search on the Bible verses where people claim that Christ spoke on hell and you would see that it is the word Gehenna used, not even Hades (Except for one place Luke 17)

So before I list every verse where Christ used the word Gehenna, many of you would need some background on exactly what Gehenna is..

It is short for GeHinnom.  It is the Valley of Hinnom which is next to the Kidron Valley.

Gehenna was  the same  unquenchable fire that burned Sodom or where 185k Assyrian bodies were thrown in  the same fire pit (Isa. 30:31-33; 33:12)

It was the place where Israel made their children passed through the fire, something God said he never would even think of doing. [2 Kings 3:10]

It is  the same fire judgement that  Edom was thrown into (Isa. 34:9-10).

God told Jeremiah  that Jerusalem will be burned and slaughtered here in the Valley of Ge-Hinnon (Gehenna for short) and Tophet (Jer 7:32-34, Jer  19:1-15; Jer. 31:38-40).  It  became a valley of slaughter with  literal fire and dead bodies when Babylon raided them.

The problem is that most people don’t know these Old Testament references from which Christ referenced Gehenna, and the scriptures assume that its readers are Jewish and understand the context from which it was said.

When Christ mentions Gehenna fire, they knew exactly what He meant.  He was telling them that what occurred with Babylon will occur again in the near future.  Jerusalem will be destroyed by fire.  It happened in AD 70.
