Harpazo vs Resurrection Part 2

Image
I think most importantly we have to go back to the impact of Christ's resurrection. I began to ask myself "How Powerful is Christ's Resurrection?" Are Abraham and Daniel still dead and in Sheol or Hell or grave (and yes one of the words for hell is Sheol) Consider this. Abraham rejoiced in the day of Christ. He was not disappointed. Christ's resurrection began the process to dramatically change the dynamic of the state of death and the death process. That was why even thought Martha said, yes I believe Lazarus will rise on the last day, Christ obliterated that line of thinking by stating that He was the resurrection. He then proceeded to prove that a day does not limit him and he raised Lazarus from the dead. Therefore in the Old Covenant, resurrection was a day or event. In the New Covenant Resurrection is a Person Christ himself. All of that to say, when Christ resurrected, the OT saints resurrected with Him, upon His ascension He led captivity captiv...

Harpazo vs Rapture - Part 1

Image
Harpazo is different from rapture. Rapture is based on the notion that Christ comes with dead ones, picks up believers and makes a u turn and flies back up to heaven with unbelievers left behind.  It's helpful to consider Paul's word for "meeting" in this passage. It is the Greek word apantesis, which typically described the formal welcoming of a dignitary into a city. In other Greek literature, it was a term that described a great delegation that would travel to the outskirts of the city gates and beyond to receive the conquering king as he returned to the land." The Rapture counts for absurd eschatology.... And if you believe in the rapture guess who is taken? Not the righteous as you were taught but the wicked. Notice the disciples are asking "Where they were taken"... notice Christ's answer "wherever the dead bodies are for the vultures to consume" Luk 17:34 — Luk 17:37 I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the o...

The Resurrection Process

Image
Did the Resurrection Process Start with Christ and Then Paused?  Can Some aspect of Resurrection of the Dead have started in the 1st Century with Christ's Resurrection? I have been of the view that the general resurrection of the dead, was always a future event.     I spoke also of my initial consideration of an evolving change of view on this important issue at When was the Resurrection From the Dead?     The traditional view is that: Christ certainly resurrected around AD 30 There was an initial sighting of saints rising when Christ rose/ ascended, but it was of no consequence. Since we all die, resurrection is clearly in the future. Christ has not come back yet, so there is no Resurrection.  Consequences of this View though are:  No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven. (John 3:13). No Exception. Not only has no one has ascended into heaven, but He told his disciples that they cou...

I am the Resurrection

When Martha Told Christ that she knew Lazarus would resurrect on last day, you can hear Christ completely correcting her understanding on this. Christ's point was you have known that Resurrection was a Day or Event, but I say unto you, 'I am the Resurrection and the Life. If you believe in me though you are dead yet shall you live. If you believe in me you shall never die.' Then to prove that a day of Resurrection does not limit Him, He raised Lazarus from the dead. However Lazarus did not receive his spiritual body. He was raised physically. So Christ declared in the Old Covenant, Resurrection just like the Sabbath and the Judgement was a day. In the New Covenant He is the Resurrection and He is the Sabbath etc. In the New Covenant a Person is greater that a day. Christ raising Lazarus physically without receiving his physical body also showed the possibly of being freed from Hades but not yet receiving glorified bodies. You can be raised, you can be quicken, but without ...
