Summary
Gen. 10 - 11:9
Chapter 10 is sometimes called “The Table of Nations”. In Hebrew, the word is “goy,” and in Greek, the word is “ethnos.”
By the way, you are not a “gentile,” because you are not a “nation.” The modern-day meaning of “gentile” does not line up with the Bible’s meaning on that!
“The sons of Japheth were Gomer, Magog” ← First instance of Magog. Remember Gog the price of Magog? The Book of Maccabees provides a historical account of the events prophesied in Ezekiel 38-39 and Daniel 11, fulfilled by the invasion of Jerusalem and Judea by Antiochus Epiphanes. And no, Magog is NOT Russia.
“Like Nimrod the mighty hunter before the Lord. ” 10 And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, Erech, Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar. 11 From that land he went to Assyria and built Nineveh, Rehoboth Ir, Calah, 12 and Resen between Nineveh and Calah (that is the principal city).” ← Nimod built Shinar, aka Sumer/ Shumer aka Babylon. He also Built Assyria. This is the beginning of the tale of two cities in the Bible, Babylon vs Jerusalem. See more resources on Sumer below to learn about these great warriors Sidon and Accad/ Akka and the Akkadian Empire.
The generations of the founder of Babylon - The sons of Ham, Cush and Nimrod are contrasted with the founder of Jerusalem, Shem, the first Melchizedek or Adonizedek [for that was the title given to the King of Jerusalem, just as Pharaoh is known as the King of Egypt]. This set up the battle for who will rule the earth as King [Dominion] and Priest [Fruitfulness] as its birthright - Nimrod vs Shem/ Babylon vs Jerusalem.
Birthright from Adam rightfully passed to Shem and then to Abram. But Nimrod stole Adam’s skin coat to rule the earth.
It was Nimrod who built Babel. Remember the tower of Babel was a cell phone tower in disguise. A 5G Tower, and it caused a worldwide pandemic. Actually, when the people came together to build the tower of Babel, it was really a ziggurat, pictured above; their goal was to reach heaven.
Gen. 11:10 - 12:9
The first three verses of Gen. 12 are God’s famous blessing upon Abram. God promises to make him a great nation, to bless him, and that all the families of the earth shall be blessed in him.
Is there a difference between the great nation that God promised Abram and all the families of the earth being blessed in him? If so, what was that difference?
What does it mean that “And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” ←
It meant that all the nations mentioned in Gen 10 would be justified by faith. No nation excluded, ancient nor modern. This was the Gospel. “And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, “In you all the nations shall be blessed.” [Gen 3:8]
Peter preached being blessed, and all nations being blessed, is Christ turning everyone from their iniquities/ sins starting with natural Israel first, with Christ sent to them first. The lessening is turning away from iniquities. “You are sons of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying to Abraham, ‘And in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed.’ 26 To you first, God, having raised up His Servant Jesus, sent Him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from your iniquities.”” [Acts 3:25-26]
Gen. 12:10 - Gen. 13
Abram told Sarai to say she was his sister, rather than his wife. It doesn’t sound like he had much faith in God's protection over him at the beginning, does it?
Think about the consequences Lot paid in choosing what seemed like the best for himself rather than working out the problem between Abram and Lot. Do we ever make decisions that appeal to our flesh in some way, without bothering to discover the true wickedness that lies just below the surface? What should we do instead?
