To The “God Hates” Christians

Why do Christians remain fixated on "God hates this.." "God hates that..." Then they will quote scriptures such as

  • Psalm 5:5, "The boastful shall not stand before Thine eyes; Thou dost hate all who do iniquity,"
  • Psalm 11:5, "The Lord tests the righteous and the wicked, and the one who loves violence His soul hates."
  • Lev. 20:23, "Moreover, you shall not follow the customs of the nation which I shall drive out before you, for they did all these things, and therefore I have abhorred them."
  • Prov. 6:16-19, "There are six things which the Lord hates, yes, seven which are an abomination to Him: 17 Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, 18 A heart that devises wicked plans, feet that run rapidly to evil, 19 A false witness who utters lies, and one who spreads strife among brothers."
  • Hosea 9:15, "All their evil is at Gilgal; indeed, I came to hate them there! Because of the wickedness of their deeds I will drive them out of My house! I will love them no more; All their princes are rebels
While all true, it is not necessarily final TRUTH. As an example, it is true that you are a sinner, but in Christ the TRUTH is you are the righteousness of God. Do you see the difference?
This is exactly the problem when one does NOT rightly DIVIDE the word of TRUTH.
You must pay attention to the division between the Old Covenant vs. New Covenant.

Old Covenant involves devoting your enemies for destruction. It's the known as law of devotion. Interestingly this law was also primarily used to kick Israel off the land for not abiding by the law. Israel in a turnabout became the enemy, and the land must not be defiled. The New Covenant in contrast, states, that the love of God compels us to state this crazy statement (Paul refers to it as a crazy statement) that if One dies for all then all died in Him (2 Cor 5:14). The cross was the place of reconciliation for the world. You reconcile with your enemies. At the cross, God stated that no longer He imputes sin or hold sin as a barrier to relationship. Man has no excuse to make God his enemy

Again the love of Christ compel Paul to come to this conclusion. What has the love of Christ compel you to conclude? Or are you fixated by hatred and wrath? This is the conclusion. That God demonstrated His love in that, while we were still sinners, - that is, all the verses you posted that you are gloating in, while all of that is true, it's not the Truth - while we were sinners, Christ died for us. And in case you are wondering He died for all. He dragged every man into Him. When He died all men died. All men do not yet live. At the end you would be judged for your works, not because God hates you. Finally in the Old Testament, anything that is not of law is sin. This was a sad state of affairs.

In the New Testament anything that is not of FAITH is sin. Did you get the difference? Be careful that you are not disparaging faith. Again, what does the Love of God compel you to conclude? What are you fixated on?

Focus on that first, before you focus on “God Hates..” Watch your heart.
