The Power of the Resurrection
The Cross is Much More Powerful than what anyone one of us think.
How Powerful? It's universal impact is seen in its resounding defeat of sin and death.
The Resurrection of Christ was much more powerful than what anyone one of us think.
The Resurrection of Christ was so powerful, it altered irrevocably the entire process of death for all of mankind. It completely impacted the death process that began with Adam, with no DELAY or GAPS to its effect and power.
Resurrection is a process WITH NO DELAY, NO GAPS, that started in the end of that Age with ONE MAN, Christ's own resurrection, (He does not die again), with an immediate impact as seen by the many OT saints walking around and seen by others. [Matt 27:52]
Then at his ascension He did lead captivity captive, as spoils, as firstfruits (perhaps represented by the 144K), and on the last day, at the destruction of Jerusalem in AD 70, a full awakening of everyone else in Sheol, all of Daniel’s people, the rest of OT saints along with 1st century believers, were raised, some to life (they do not die again), and some to condemnation.
This is certainly in line with the Three Harvests shadow in the OT. OT shadows taught us that three times men must appear before God [Ex 23:17], corresponding to the three harvests.
- Christ - the main Man (Barley)
- The Firstfuits of the Harvest (Wheat and Tares)
- The Rest, Full Harvesting of Grapes
Rev 14, three harvesting of the earth shows this. Again, Christ the firstfruit, then the Son of Man harvested the wheat from the tares then the Grapes thrown into the winepress.
So Matt 27:52 were those who were raised as a type of firstfruits and I believe went with Him at the ascension as He led captivity captive. Then He returned with them in AD 70 for a full awakening of Daniel's people... and emptied Sheol.. some to life and some to condemnation.
Since then, when you die in Christ, you live.
If this is challenging to you, consider also Christ's challenge to Martha's understanding of this.
When Martha Told Christ that she knew Lazarus would resurrect on LAST DAY, you can hear Christ completely correcting her understanding on this.
Christ's point was, you have previously known that Resurrection was a Day or Event, but I say unto you,
'***I am the Resurrection and the Life****. If you believe in me though you are dead yet shall you live. If you believe in me you shall never die.'
'***I am the Resurrection and the Life****. If you believe in me though you are dead yet shall you live. If you believe in me you shall never die.'
Then to prove that a day of Resurrection does not limit Him, in no way at all, He raised Lazarus from the dead, right then, not waiting for a set DAY. (albeit Lazarus did not receive his spiritual body)
This was just like Christ in His “You have heard it said, But I say unto you” moments.
In essence, Christ declared that according to the prevalent Old Covenant understanding, Resurrection just like the Sabbath and the Judgement was a day.
In the New Covenant He is the Resurrection and He is the Sabbath. In the New Covenant a Person is greater that a day.
In the New Covenant He is the Resurrection and He is the Sabbath. In the New Covenant a Person is greater that a day.
He does not need a day to "perform" a resurrection. It has been continuously happening every since.
