Is Jesus God? A Comprehensive Study

Is Jesus God?

Quick Summary:

Only one scripture is needed... straight from the horse's mouth, straight from Christ's mouth…

"I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts. 7 He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and ****I will be his God ***** and he shall be My son. "[Rev 21:7]

Do you remember who is THE Alpha and Omega right? Yep Christ.

"And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.”

  • He is the image of the invisible God; He is the Creator - in Him all things were created [Col 1:15-20]

  •  The Revelation of the Christ.  The Alpha and Omega , Christ, Will be YOUR God [Rev 21:7] He is Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and End, Lord over all, the Word who became flesh.

  • Christ is God in the flesh.... But that seems to be Controversial for some [1 Tim 3:16]. The Gnostics back in those days acknowledge that Christ was divine, but since He was divine, He was not really human.  He did not come in the flesh.  They could not fathom, how a human can be divine.  He must have been only spirit, which is good.  Today, those who contend the Jesus is not God equal to the Father, make a similar error.  They conclude that because He was human, He could not have been God,  They are not of God also.  They are antichrist.

  • The Word is God. The Word was With God in the Beginning.  The Word became flesh.  If you Tell me that the WORD did NOT Become Flesh,  then I  would not hesitate to conclude that you operate  in the spirit of Antichrist

  • Jesus is THE Lord and the God of My Salvation [Isa 12:2] The Lord [Yahweh] has Become My Salvation [Yeshua]. Yahweh actually became Yeshua.  Calling Jesus, Salvation was not by accident. It was not for his good looks.  Yeshua literally means “The Lord, My Salvation”.  Only God is called my Salvation.

  • There has only Been One true King.  God is King [Ps 74:12].  Christ is the King. The King Who Saves.

  • How Does God Define Salvation? Confessing that “In the Lord you have Righteousness” [Isa 45:22-23]. But Paul said that this was instead confessing “Jesus is Lord”.    So who is this Lord in which you have Righteousness?  Which Lord?  In Isa 45 it is God.  Paul says it is Christ. Where did He get that from? It is because Christ is the Lord of  Righteousness, that everyone will confess. They will confess that in the  Lord, they have righteousness, aka, Jesus Christ is Lord.

  • Paul did not Lie.  According to the Flesh, Christ Came who is over all, the eternally blessed God. [Rom 9:1-5]

  •  Christ is the Fullness of the Godhead Bodily [Col 2:4-9]

  • The Father and Christ is one. Before Abraham was Christ is. Of  course if you are married you would understand the mystery in this: how can two (with separate wills) become one, yet remain two

  • Jesus is the Son of God ONLY when he came in the Flesh.  THERE WAS NO SON before he came on earth in the flesh. He was the Word. He was in the  Beginning. He was also the Alpha. He was the  Word Creator. When he came in flesh, only then He was  identified as Son of God and Son of Man, through the unique arrangement of Holy Spirit seeding Mary.

  •  Here is the Mystery: He was the Son of David yet David’s Lord.  Just as He was the Son of God and yet God became flesh. [Ps 110:1]

  • Worship Him.... (and only God deserves worship) [Matt 28:9,17]

Here is the picture of God.

Christ is the Word that creates and gives us all life.

For there to be a Word you need

  • a Speaker - Father.

  • To speak you need Breath - the Spirit.

  • The actually Word spoken - the Christ

All three are one. God.

Next picture.

  •  God the consuming fire- Father

  •  God the Branch - Christ

  •  God the Wind - Spirit

That's why he was revealed to Moses as the burning Bush.

The term God is Elohim.. it is a plural term and a term for  Government... like the Government of Canada... they are multiple people  in Government.  There is only One God, one Government.

God or Elohim is not his Name. The beings in Government [God] are

  1.  Yahweh [Father - Speaker]/ Legislative Branch

  2.  Yeshua [Word]/ King/ Executive Branch

  3.  Ruach Yodesh [Breath] / Judicial Branch

"For the Lord is our Judge, The Lord is our Lawgiver, The Lord is our King; He will save us" [Isa 33:22]

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Who is Christ?

Col 1:15 — Col 1:20

Christ  who is the image of the invisible God, first-born of all creation,  because in him were the all things created, those in the heavens, and  those upon the earth, those visible, and those invisible, whether  thrones, whether lordships, whether  principalities, whether authorities; all things through him, and for  him, have been created, and himself is before all, and the all things in  him have consisted. And himself is the head of the body--the  assembly--who is a beginning, a first-born out of the dead, that he  might become in all [things]--himself--first, because in him it did  please all the fullness to tabernacle, and through him to reconcile the  all things to himself--having made peace through the blood of his  cross--through him, whether the things upon the earth, whether the  things in the heavens.

From this we see the following:

  1. He is the image of the invisible God

  2. He is the Creator - in Him all things were created

  3. He is the Head of the Body - the assembly

  4. In Him all the fullness dwell

He is Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and End, Lord over all, the Word who became flesh.

Christ is God in the flesh.... But that seems to be Controversial for some

"And without controversy great  is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, Justified  in the Spirit, Seen by angels, Preached among the Gentiles, Believed on  in the world, Received up in glory. " [1 Tim 3:16]

Did you get that?  "God was manifested in the flesh"

So who was manifested in the flesh? Oh yes God.  This should be without controversy but apparently  the mystery is still too great for many. They prefer to be controversial declaring instead, that Jesus Christ is not God, instead of being in truth.

------------------------------

“This has to be one of the easiest ways to see that Jesus was fully God in every and all aspects. He was the savior of the world that he created! Jesus was the one who spoke this world into existence! He was the one who flooded the earth. He was the one who parted the Red Sea. He provided Bread from Heaven to his chosen people😉. There are different aspects of Gods character but there is no separation of power!” Klayton Warner

---------------------------------

Jesus is God in the Flesh

"Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is  of God, and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has  come in the flesh is not of God.  This is the spirit of the antichrist" [1 John 4:2-3]

The Hebraic phrase "come in the flesh" is very important.

The Gnostics back in those days acknowledge that Christ was divine, but since He was divine, He was not really human.  He did not come in the flesh.  They could not fathom, how a human can be divine.  He must have been only spirit, which is good.

Today, those who contend that Jesus is not God and equal to the Father, make a similar error.  They conclude that because He was human, He could not have been God,  They are not of God also.  They are antichrist.

As we saw above: The Word Is God.  The Word was With God.  The Word Became Flesh.   Without controversy God WAS MANIFESTED IN THE FLESH. Jesus Christ is God the Word made flesh.

"In the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God and "In the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God and the Word was God... He was in the beginning with God". [John 1:1]

""The  WORD BECAME FLESH AND DWELT AMONG US... AND WE BEHELD HIS GLORY...(what  was the Glory we beheld????).... THE GLORY OF THE BEGOTTEN SON FULL OF  GRACE AND TRUTH." [John 1:14]

God being made flesh  is very important. Remember the great mystery in 1 Tim 1:16 that is  controversial to you and that you cannot comprehend?

Well if you cannot declare that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh, then you are operating in the spirit of antichrist.

For this reading and still disagreeing, I want you to tell me John was wrong.

  • He said the WORD was God.  Do you Agree?

  • He said the Word was in the Beginning WITH God [The Father].  Do You Agree?

If you THEN Tell me that the WORD did NOT Become Flesh,  then I would not hesitate to conclude that you also operate  in the spirit of Antichrist

Christ is the IMAGE of the Invisible God = Christ is the VISIBLE GOD

Gnostism declares that Christ was just an image or just a spirit, and the human Jesus was not really Christ.

The scripture indicates Christ is THE IMAGE of God.

Let’s understand the different terms for image.

Image is eikon. It is complete replication, not a shadow.

When Christ was man on the earth He was the exact representation, the exact photo copy of God on earth.

It's as if you took the original invisible God and have Him take a form that was visible. That was what image/ eikon is. It is the exact avatar in another dimension.

The other word for image, is the word for prototypes or things that resemble, that is you take the original and you carve or make a reflection off. It is not an exact representation of the original.

This is the image you don't worship.

You could not worship images that were figments of your imagination of what you think God looks like.

Also here is  where Christ is different.  He is the exact visible representation of God is, not a prototype, but the exact representation.

Col 1:15 — Col 1:17

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

Paul said Christ is the visible God who is actually the Creator, the One by whom everything came out of and exists.

Even though we cannot normally see God, he made possible the impossible, having the Creator become the created, having the painter become a painting, so that all other paintings could see Him, yet He is the painter of all paintings

Jesus is THE Lord and the God of My Salvation

Is Jesus Our Savior?  Yes.  But Savior and Salvation are actually titles and attributes of God.

The God of my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, My stronghold and my refuge; My Savior, You save me from violence. 2 Sam 2:23

Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; ‘For Yah, the Lord, is my strength and song; He also has become my salvation.’ ” [Isa 12:2]

Pay attention right here.  The scripture in Isa 12:2 literally says, “The Lord... has become my salvation”... that is  "Yahweh... has become my Yeshua"

YAHWEH BECOMES YESHUA

Calling Jesus, Salvation was not by accident. It was not for his good looks.  Yeshua literally means “The Lord, My Salvation”.  Only God is called my Salvation.

Yahweh actually became Yeshua.

Literally  Lord has become my salvation...This is the reason The Lord Yahweh was  given the name Yeshua (Jesus). It was to fulfill this prophecy the  angels declared his name to be Yeshua.

"...looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ " [Ttus 2:13]

Here It is again... The Hebrew concept of Yahweh, the great God being Yeshua, Savior.

Jesus is Lord and God and Salvation (Savior).  The great God and Savior Jesus Christ.

Christ is the Lord, The God who Saves.

How Does God Define Salvation? Confessing Jesus is Lord.  Actually the FULL CONFESSION is “In the Lord I  have Righteousness and Strength”, shortened to “Jesus is Lord”.

Which Lord?  God and Christ.

How  Does God Himself define salvation? Let's look at a powerful moment at  one of the few times when God decided to swear, to prove His point:

"Look to Me, and be saved, All you ends of the earth!

For I am God, and there is no other.

  I have sworn by Myself;

The word has gone out of My mouth in righteousness,

  And shall not return,

That to Me every knee shall bow,

Every tongue shall take an oath.

  He shall say,

‘Surely in the Lord I have righteousness and strength'

  To Him men shall come,

  And all shall be ashamed

Who are incensed against Him. " [Isa 45:22-23]

So What is God’s Definition of Salvation? Every Man/Woman Swearing that Actually “In Christ Alone I HAVE Righteousness and Strength”

Let’s analyze God’s definition of salvation, shall we? ->

First, Simply that unto Him, CHRIST, every knee will bow and every tongue will  swear that  “In the Lord alone I Have  righteousness and strength”. [Isa  45:24]

Paul, in case we do not understand the scope of this, expanded  the scope BEYOND ISRAEL In Isa 45.  When he stated every knee will worship, that includes, all knees in heaven, earth and under the earth. [Phil 2:10-11].

Even this embodies  the principle of restoration through judgment, goodness and severity.  For this to occur, that is for every knee to bow, it may also include the  experience of judgment - [Rom 14:10-11] “For we shall all stand before  the judgment seat of Christ. 11 For it is written: "As I live, says the  LORD, Every knee shall bow to Me, And every tongue shall confess to  God."

Second, there is the declaration that every tongue will  confess that “Jesus is Lord”.  That is what Paul equates to “In the Lord alone I HAVE righteousness and strength”.  So EVERYONE will confess this.  EVERYONE.  It is obvious.  No on can confess that “n the Lord alone I HAVE righteousness and strength” without it being true and resulting in Salvation,  It is NOT a mental confession.  It is confessing a reality.

Do you Get that?  In the Lord Alone... Who is the Lord? Well the subject in Isa 45 is God, but Paul says this is Christ.

So the GOD in Isa 45 is Christ according to Paul is Phil 2.

But where did Paul get the understanding that the God in Isa 45 is Christ in Phil 2?  Where did he get that from? It is because Christ is the Lord of Righteousness, that everyone will confess. They will confess that in the  Lord, they have righteousness, aka, Jesus Christ is Lord.

And you cannot confess that to God's Glory except  by the Spirit. Interestingly, the  word for confess is to swear on your right hand,  that is in context, to swear like God swore on the throne.

What did God swear?

He swore and guaranteed that the earth will be turned to Him and Be  saved, even though some will be put to shame (be made accountable), who  initially rejected Him (and frankly the way we presented Him, as a big  bad guy in the sky, some people are well within their right to reject  that perception of Him) .

He defined salvation as "every tongue  swearing like He swore and every knee worshiping"... That is how God  defined salvation... And it will happen, even though it will take ages.

The Key is... Choose Life now, uninterrupted life, zoe, eternal life  that gives you immortality and incorruption... or stay in death, die,  experience loss, ruin, for aionon (ages - not "eternity", the word is  olam), until you pay the last farthing.. But the Cross started the  process for you... and yes, you must believe. But in the end, all will,  even though it would take a lot of pursuit and convincing, and some  becoming ashamed when they realize they should not have been running  away from Him for so long.

Now that's good news!

Scriptures say to Worship Christ.... (and only God deserves worship)

Rom 14:11 "It is written: “As surely as I live, says the Lord, every knee will bow/worship before Me; every tongue will confess to God.”

Phil  2: 10-11 "that in the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in  heaven and things on earth and things under the earth, 11and that every  tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God  the Father."

At the name of Jesus, your knee will bow, your tongue will finally confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.

Confess it now.

Anything Else Less than Jesus is God is a Lie

Paul did not Lie.  According to the Flesh, Christ Came who is over all, the eternally blessed God.

Rom 9:1 — Rom 9:5

9  I tell the truth in Christ, I am not lying, my conscience also bearing  me witness in the Holy Spirit.... according to the flesh, Christ came,  who is over all, the eternally blessed God. Amen.

The  above is the truth. Paul is not lying. Christ is over all, the  eternally blessed God. So If Paul is not lying, and Christ over all who  is the eternally blessed God, then anyone else who says Jesus is not God  is lying.

Christ is the Fullness of the Godhead Bodily

Col 2:4 — Col 2:9

Now this I say lest anyone should deceive you with persuasive words....

 Beware  lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to  the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world,  and not according to Christ. For in Him dwells all the fullness of the  Godhead bodily;

Be careful of arguments, traditions  of men, that belittle the Christ that says the fullness of the Godhead does not dwell in Him fully.

This is the Revelation of the Christ: The Alpha and Omega Will be YOUR God.  Straight From Christ’s Mouth.

It's  really easy to defeat anyone who says Jesus is not God  from the Book of the Revelation,  which is the revelation of Jesus Christ (revealing who He is).

Follow  along: In the very first chapter we see Jesus (Rev. 1:12-18).

Jesus  says about Himself, "I am the First and  the Last.  I am the Living One.  I was dead and, Behold! I am alive."

Then, we see the Lamb (clearly, again, Jesus) in chapter 5 taking the  scroll from "Him who sat on the throne."

There's the Lamb (Jesus)  taking the scroll from Him who sat on the throne [The Father].

Then, we see the  final picture in chapter 21:

"He who was seated on the throne said....'I  am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End...I WILL BE HIS GOD...."  [Rev 21:7]

In Revelation 22:13  Jesus says, "I am coming soon.  I am the  Alpha and Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End."

Now  follow along.  If the Lamb (Jesus) takes the scroll from He who sits on  the throne, and He ALSO is "one who sits on the throne" then the  REVELATION OF JESUS CHRIST is revealed: JESUS is HE WHO SITS ON  THRONE [on the Right Hand of the Father]!!!  HE is the ALPHA AND OMEGA.  HE will be their GOD!!!!!

Chew on those words. The ONE WHO IDENTIFIES AS THE ALPHA AND OMEGA IS GOD ← CHRIST SAID HE WAS THE ALPHA AND OMEGA.

There has only Been One true King.  God.  Christ is the King. The King Who Saves. The FIRST AND THE LAST

For God is my King from of old, Working salvation in the midst of the earth. [Ps. 74:12]

For the Lord is our Judge, The Lord is our Lawgiver, The Lord is our King; He will save us [Isa 33:22]

Thus says the Lord, the King of Israel,

And his Redeemer, the Lord of hosts:

‘I am the First and I am the Last;

Besides Me there is no God. Isa 44:6

So who is this God?

---------------------

Who is the God, the King of Israel? - Christ

  • “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews?" [Mat 2:2:]

  • "Tell the daughter of Zion, ‘Behold, your King is coming to you, Lowly, and sitting on a donkey, A colt, the foal of a donkey.’” [Matt 21:5]

  • “He saved others; Himself He cannot save. If He is the King of Israel, let Him now come down from the cross, and we will believe Him." Matt 27:42

  • "And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.”" Luke 1:43

  • " Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord!’ Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”" Luke 19:38

  • "until our Lord Jesus Christ’s appearing, 15 which He will manifest in His own time, He who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords, 16 who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see, to whom be honor and everlasting power. Amen" [1 Tim 6:14-16]

-----

Who is the God, the Redeemer? - Christ

"who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works." [Titus 2:4]

----------

Who is the God, the First and the Last? - Christ

Who is the First and the last? The One who rose from the Dead - Christ "These things says the First and the Last, who was dead, and came to life:" [Rev 2:8]

------------------

Who is God? Christ.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Objections

Does This mean there are Two Gods?

No.  The Christ and the Father are 2 different persons.... but they are One.

Of  course if you are married you would understand the mystery in this: how  can two (with separate wills) become one, yet remain two.

The Father and Christ is one. Before Abraham was Christ is.

Before the foundation of the world, a body was prepared and He answered the call 'Lo I will do this'....

Marriage mirrors the mystery of God, how separate beings are one.

Marriage also mirrors the mystery of Christ and the church, how two can become one.

The main difference is none of us can say before Abraham was I am.

Christ is the Beginning and the End. All that was in the Beginning was Christ.  All that will be in the End is Christ

If you think that Jesus Christ is not Lord and God, then believers are NO different from Muslims and JW and Mormons..

Col 2:1 — Col 2:2

 2  For I wish you to know how great a conflict I have for you, and  as many as have not seen my face in the flesh, that your heart may be  comforted, being united in love, and to all riches of the full assurance  of the understanding, to the full knowledge of the mystery of the God, BOTH of the Father, and of the Christ;

I repeat what Paul said: “I wish that you would have full assurance of understanding the knowledge of the mystery of God, Both of the Father and of  Christ....

Because to understand this mystery, the mystery of God, which Both includes the Father and Christ,  riches abound.

But Jesus is the Son of God, not God

Phil 2:7-8

"Christ Jesus, Who, being in very nature[a] God,

 did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;

rather, he made himself nothing, by taking the very nature of a servant,

 being made in human likeness.

And being found in appearance as a man,

 he humbled himself

 by becoming obedient to death—

 even death on a cross!"

Before  Christ came in the flesh He was God the Word

THERE WAS NO SON before he came on earth in the flesh. In fact Israel was declared as the firstborn son.

He was in the  Beginning. He was also the Alpha. He was the  Word Creator.

When he came in flesh, only then He was  identified as Son of God and Son of Man, through the unique arrangement of the Holy Spirit seeding Mary.

While  in flesh he focused on being Son of Man, but indicated that he had the  same glory with the Father before,  He came from above, He descended,  (no man could ascend anyway to the Father until He descended).  He  indicated He was before Abraham. But of course, while He was in the  flesh, He spoke a lot about His God, the Father.

After  He resurrected, was glorified and ascended, He returned to the Glory He  had. Revelation unveiled that He is the Lamb on the throne, and He is revealed as the Alpha and the Omega,  not just titles, and "He will be their God".

During his flesh tenure was a unique time, to reveal the Father and that He was the image of the Father

Still Stumbling over Christ bring the Son of God and yet God [in the flesh]? This is the Same as the Mystery: How can He be the Son of David yet David’s Lord.

Answer: In Psalm and quoted in Acts

The LORD [Yahweh] said to my Lord [Adonai], "Sit in the place of honor at my right hand  until I humble your enemies, making them a footstool under your feet." [Psa 110:1]

The Lord was not speaking to David..

The Lord was speaking to David’s Lord. Who is David’s Lord?  Christ.

So here is a mystery. He was the son of David  yet He was David’s Lord.  Just as He was the son of God yet He was God in the flesh, and He was before flesh, the Word which was God.

He said to them, “How then does David in the Spirit call Him ‘Lord,’ saying:

‘The Lord said to my Lord,

 “Sit at My right hand,

Till I make Your enemies Your footstool” ’?

45 If David then calls Him ‘Lord,’ how is He his Son?”  46 And no one was able to answer Him a word, nor from that day on did anyone dare question Him anymore. [Matt 22:43-46]

The first “Lord” in “the LORD says to my  Lord” is the eternal God of the universe, the Great I AM who revealed  Himself to Moses.

The second “Lord” in “the LORD says to my Lord” is the Messiah, or the Christ.

  • He sits at God’s right hand (verse 1)

  • He will triumph over all His enemies and rule over them (verses 1–2)

  • He will lead a glorious procession of troops (verse 3)

  • He will be “a priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek (verse 4)

  • He will have divine power to crush kings, judge nations, and slay the wicked (verses 5–6)

  • He will find refreshment and be exalted (verse 7)

But Christ cried on cross “My God, My God” Who was He Talking To?

Yes and?  In his flesh as the Son of Man, He always appealed to the Father.  But before He was flesh and after He was received into Glory, He was and is One with the Father.

My God, My God, why have you forsaken me" is the opening of Psalm 22,  while "It is finished" is the closing of the same psalm. To understand  how this paints a totally different picture than what our western mind  sees, this is a really good explanation of it:
